975 litres of illicit liquor seized by police

The Harike police led by ASI Jaswinder Singh recovered 975 litres (1,300 bottles) of illicit liquor from a person on Wednesday. The accused was arrested by the police on the spot. ASI Jaswinder Singh said here today that on the basis of information received, the police arrested the accused, Amandeep Singh alias Ladi, a resident of Kirian village, along with the illicit liquor from near Sutlej Palace in Harike. The accused had kept the liquor in his Innova car in plastic pots and was taking it for sale when the police caught him.

A case has been registered in this regard under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act. According to another information received, ASI Baljinder Singh of Verowal recovered 6,750 ml (nine bottles) of illicit liquor from the house of Kala Singh, a resident of Ekalgadda village in the area. The police arrested the accused on the spot. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the accused.
