AAP all set to capture Zila Parishad elections in Tarn Taran

The ruling Aam AAdmi Party (AAP) is set to capture most of the Block Samitis in the district, apart from the Zila Parishad, Tarn Taran. According to official information, after the withdrawal of nomination papers yesterday, the AAP candidates have won uncontested from 12 out of 20 zones of the Zila Parishad. Sixteen candidates are in the fray from the remaining eight zones.

Besides, out of the nine Block Samitis in the district, candidates of the ruling party have won unopposed from all the zones of the Block Samiti in Bhikhiwind, Gandiwind and Patti. Bhikhiwind has 23, Gandiwind 15 and Patti 16 zones. The ruling AAP candidates have won from 10 out of 20 zones of the Naushera Pannuan Block Samiti unopposed and 26 candidates are in the fray for the remaining 10 zones. Similarly, out of the 17 zones of the Tarn Taran Block Samiti, 12 AAP candidates have won without election and 17 candidates are in the fray for the remaining five zones.

Out of the 25 zones of Khadoor Sahib block, five of the ruling party candidates have won uncontested and 66 candidates are trying their luck for the remaining 20 zones. Out of the 18 zones of Valtoha block, 17 AAP candidates have been declared winners unopposed and two candidates are in the fray for the upcoming elections in one zone. The blocks of Chohla Sahib and Nagoke of the district are such where not a single candidate has won unopposed. Fifty one candidates are contesting for the 16 zones of Chohla Sahib Block Samiti and 55 candidates are contesting for the 15 zones of Nagoke Block Samiti. The elections for these zones are to be held on December 14.
