Ahead of Republic Day, Punjab Police bust BKI terror module in Amritsar
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, SSOC teams arrested one operative and seized a hand grenade, a sophisticated pistol, and ammunition from his possession
In a major security breakthrough, State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, has busted a terror module linked to the banned terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and claimed to have averted a possible attack on a security establishment ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, SSOC teams arrested one operative and seized a hand grenade, a sophisticated pistol, and ammunition from his possession.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, while sharing the information on X, said that the timely action prevented an imminent terror strike, underlining the heightened vigilance in the run-up to Republic Day.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested accused was acting on the directions of foreign-based handlers identified as Nishan Jaurrian, Adesh Jamarai, and Simma Deol. The module was allegedly being guided from abroad to carry out subversive activities in Punjab,” he said.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of law at the SSOC police station, and further investigations are underway to identify other associates, funding channels, and the broader network involved.
