Akhar Sahit Akademi holds felicitation event
Akhar Sahit Akademi, Amritsar, organised an annual felicitation ceremony at Punjab Naat Shala. Dr Mehal Singh, vice-chancellor of Khalsa University, Amritsar, attended as the chief guest. The ceremony was presided over by Sushil Dosanjh, editor of ‘Now’ magazine. Prominent Punjabi scholars Dr Manmohan, Darshan Singh Buttar, president, Kendriya Punjabi Lekhak Sangh, prominent short story writer from Jammu, Khalid Hussain, and other dignitaries attended the event.
Dr Karnail Shergill’s novel ‘Lockdown Infinity’ was presented to the public. Dr Jasbir Rana said that this novel by Dr Karnail Shergill builds a strong bridge of letters to take beautiful relationships beyond the era of Covid pandemic. The Academy presented Dr Kulwant Memorial Award to the wife of late short story writer Prem Gorkhi and Parminderjit Memorial Award to renowned ghazal writer Raman Sandhu. Prominent story writer Mukhtar Gill described his connections with Prem Gorkhi.
Dr Mehal Singh, while addressing the event, said that literature and education make a person wise, therefore literature and books have great importance in a person’s life. Along with the presidium, film director Iqbal Singh Chana, who came specially from Mumbai, was also honoured.
