Harcharanjit Kaur takes charge as Chairperson of the Zila Parishad in Tarn Taran. Gurbaxpuri

Individual conflicts among top leaders of the ruling Congress party are going to cause a great loss to the party, besides ruining the image of the state government. Only MLAs of concerned Vidhan Sabha constituency and not the whole party have been controlling and managing the administrative functions in the district. The four Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Tarn Taran, Patti, Khadoor Sahib and Khemkaran are represented by Dr Dharambeer Agnihotri, Harminder Singh Gill, Ramanjit Singh Sikki and Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, respectively. In case one thinks of party's importance, there is Manjit Singh Ghasitpur, president of the district Congress committee. He was appointed as district president only eight months ago when the district committee was yet to be formed. Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Member of Parliamnet from Khadoor Sahib, too, was active in administrative activities in one way or another. Ramanjit Singh Sikki was hardly ever seen in the area. He even remained absent in the Lok Sabha election campaigning and why he did so is best known to the party leadership. Only a few days back, Harcharajit Kaur and Surinder Singh, assumed charges as chairperson and vice-chairman of the local Zila Parishad at a ceremony in Tarn Taran. Ramanjit Singh Sikki, Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, MP Jasbir Singh Dimpa and Manjit Singh Ghasitpur were among prominent personalities, who were conspicuous by their absence. Manjit Singh Ghasitpur said he was not even invited to the function. Instances of the conflicts among top leaders of the Congress party often come to the fore. The present situation is causing a major setback to people and the administration equally.

Discrimination with Dadehar Sahib village

Residents of Dadehar Sahib village, a native place of five 'gadri babas', were up in arms against the discrimination meted out to them by the administration. Sant Baba Wisakha Singh, Bhai Wisakha Singh, Baba Bishan Singh Pehalwan, Bhaba Bishan Singh and Baba Sadhu Singh, all resident of the village, played a major role in the Gadar Movement to aware the countrymen against the British rule. Village residents protested over attaching the village with Market Committee of Harike, when it was linked with the Block Development and Panchayat Office (BDPO) and Sub-tehsil at Naushehra Pannuan. Harike and Naushehra Pannuan are situated opposite to each other. Balwinder Singh Dadehar Sahib, resident of the village, said previously the village was attached with Market Committee, Naushehra Pannuan, which was an easy approach for farmers and other residents, but keeping in view personal motives, politicians attached the village with Market Committee, Harike, which was unfair to the residents. Expressing their resentment over, residents have also demanded for the overall development of the village, being a place with rich heritage.
