Amandeep Hospital, in partnership with Ujala Cygnus and in association with Smile Train, celebrated a milestone event marking 21 years of providing life-changing cleft care to patients across the region. The event commemorated the completion of 8,500 free cleft surgeries, a testament to the hospital’s commitment to transforming lives and creating smiles.
“Over the past 21 years, we have witnessed countless smiles and life-changing transformations. Our partnership with Smile Train has enabled us to provide comprehensive cleft care to thousands of patients, and we are proud to have made a difference in the lives of so many families,” said Dr Ravi Mahajan, director, Smile Train Project, and Amandeep Hospital.
The Smile Train project, a global cleft charity, has been working with Amandeep Hospital for over two decades to provide cleft lip and palate repair surgeries, as well as comprehensive cleft care services including orthodontic treatment, speech therapy and nutritional services to patients in India.
To and fro travel, free food and compensation for lost daily wages are also taken care of patients coming from far flung areas. The project’s focus on training local medical professionals and building sustainable cleft care programs has enabled Amandeep Hospital to become a leading center for cleft care in the region.
Amandeep Hospital’s cleft care programme has not only provided life-changing surgeries but also created opportunities for patients to regain their confidence and reintegrate into society.
Chief guest Dr Girdhar Gyani, director general of Association of Healthcare Providers (India), praised the efforts of Amandeep Hospital.
