Though it is the last week to pay property tax with a 10 per cent rebate, municipal corporation employees are striving hard to achieve the mid-term target, which is Rs 27 crore. MC officials claim that they have collected ~20 crore property tax till date and the target would be achieved till September 30.

Despite September 28 and 29 being weekend days, all the Citizen Facilitation Centres (CFCs) at Ranjit Avenue and zonal offices will remain open and tax will be collected. Property tax wing officials urged residents to pay tax till September 30 to take advantage of the rebate. MC Assistant Commissioner Vishal Wadhawan said the rebate is being given on property tax till September 30 and a large number of tax payers are taking advantage of this opportunity offered by the government. He said today the MC collected around ~1 crore tax from tax defaulters and current tax payers.

Camps are being organised to collect property tax in various areas of the city. MC staff claim that for the ease of tax payers, a property tax camp was organised in the Focal Point area where ~20 lakh was collected by staff. Assistant Commissioner Vishal Wadhawan said, “Since April 1, we have collected ~20 crore till date. We urged the residents to pay the property tax by visiting the CFC at the MC head office at Ranjit Avenue and all zonal offices. Residents should take advantage of the rebate being offered till September 30.”
