Amritsar Police bust cross-border narco-smuggling module; five held
Police recover six sophisticated pistols, 10 live cartridges, and Rs 11.90 lakh-worth drug money
The Amritsar Commissionerate Police on Monday said they have dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module, and arrested five accused.
During the operation, police recovered six sophisticated pistols, 10 live cartridges, 115 grams of heroin, and Rs 11.90 lakh-worth drug money from the accused.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations have revealed the arrested accused were actively linked to a cross-border smuggling syndicate and were involved in the illegal trafficking of arms and narcotics. The module was allegedly facilitating the movement of weapons and drugs into the region, posing a serious threat to public safety and national security.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar, under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police have launched a detailed investigation to trace the network’s handlers, financiers, and cross-border contacts.
