Amritsar: Waris Punjab De forms board for impartial selection of poll candidates
Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh’s father appointed coordinator
Akali Dal Waris Punjab De has constituted a five-member parliamentary board to strengthen the party organisation and ensure a transparent process for selecting candidates for future elections.
Party’s working president Tarsem Singh, father of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh said Kabal Singh has been appointed coordinator of the parliamentary board. Sukhwinder Singh Agwan, Babu Singh Brar, Sukhpreet Singh Udoke and Pargat Singh have been named as members. The party president said the board would examine recommendations received from various Assembly constituencies and assess aspirants on the basis of their service to the Panth and Punjab, organisational discipline, loyalty to the party and public acceptance before recommending suitable candidates to the party’s top leadership for approval.
The party said the move was aimed at ensuring transparency, merit and impartiality in the selection of candidates while strengthening the organisational structure and promoting dedicated workers based on their performance and commitment.
The leadership expressed confidence that the newly constituted board would discharge its responsibilities with fairness and integrity in accordance with the party’s principles.
Meanwhile, the party also inducted Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) SC Wing president from Amritsar West, Sandeep Singh, along with his supporters into the party. New entrants were welcomed by Majha Zone in-charge Amarjit Singh Vannchiri.
Addressing the gathering, Vannchiri claimed that people of Punjab had become disillusioned with traditional politics and were increasingly joining Akali Dal Waris Punjab De because of its commitment to Punjab, Punjabi identity and Panthic interests. “Leaders and workers from different political parties are joining the organization,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Singh said he and his supporters had decided to join Akali Dal Waris Punjab De after being influenced by the party’s ideology and its young leadership.
