Anti-drug awareness skit

GURDASPUR: Raman Bahl, senior Congressman and chairman of the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board, organised an anti-drug awareness skit at the Ram Dutt hall here on Sunday.

Gurdaspur, July 15

Raman Bahl, senior Congressman and chairman of the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board, organised an anti-drug awareness skit at the Ram Dutt hall here on Sunday. It was attended by school students and their parents among others.

The skit was presented by the Amritsar-based Gurinder Makna Group and was a part on the ongoing ‘Tandrust Punjab’ campaign.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, MD (Psychiatry), harped on the evil effects of drugs. Bahl urged the Central Government to formulate a national drugs policy.

“The Punjab government has launched a full fledged drive against drugs with particular focus on villages. Likewise, the Central Government should formulate a national drug policy which should be followed by all states. Youth and teenagers are more prone to become the victims of drug abuse. Thousands of men and billions of rupees are involved in drug trade. That is why it is so difficult to keep it under control. The problem is all too pronounced in the twin border districts of Gurdaspur and Pathankot. The repeated seizures by the BSF of high grade heroin from near the zero-line are enough proof that Pakistan is playing a nefarious role to trying to destabilise India,” said Bahl.— TNS
