App to help BRTS passengers track metro buses

AMRITSAR: The Punjab Bus Metro Society (PBMS) has launched a mobile application for the convenience of Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) passengers.

The Punjab Bus Metro Society (PBMS) has launched a mobile application for the convenience of Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS)  passengers. 

  The application ‘Amritsar BRTS’ includes all the required features for a comparable ride. Officials of the PBMS claimed that the passenger can get the trip details, route and bus number for the desired route and fare details from one station to another, location to the nearest place through GPS. 

Besides, the mobile application would get attached with holders of the smart card. They can recharge the card by using application.

Inderjit Singh Chawala, Chief Executive Officer, Metro Bus, said, “We have more than 20,000 smart card holders. They can recharge their card through mobile application. There is no need to stand in queues to get recharge the smart card. It is available on play store”. 

The metro buses will start charging from April 28 onwards. Officials of the Punjab Bus Metro Society say they are making arrangement so that passengers get tickets comfortably.

As per the official data, the metro buses witness around 70,000 per day ridership. The service is free till April 27. Officials are expecting that the ridership may suffer once the service becomes paid.

Chawla said, “We are expecting that 80 per cent passengers will avail the services of  metro bus. We have got feedback from passengers. Most of them are satisfied with the comfortable ride. The bus fare is nominal and less than any of the available mode of public transport. The passengers are ready to pay for the ride”.
