Responding to the allegations of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal that Capt Amarinder Singh defaming his family, MLA (West) Dr Raj Kumar Verka has said that the acts of the Badal family during their regime had brought them into this situation.

Addressing mediapersons, Verka said Capt Amarinder Singh and the Congress party didn’t interfere into the functioning of the SIT, which was constituted to look into the sacrilege cases.

“The CM is not defaming Badal. There is no political vendetta. The allegations of Parkash Singh Badal are baseless as the SIT is independent and there is no political pressure. Parkash Singh Badal is responsible for his misdeeds during his regime. The Badal family should cooperate with the SIT officials,” said Verka.

The MLA refuted the claims of Parkash Singh Badal regarding “threat” to the law and order and Hindu-Sikh social fabric. “Whenever Badal attains power, he comes up with the issue of Hindu-Sikh in Punjab. Hindus and Sikhs have a great history of brotherhood. There is no issue of law and order. The Badal family is in crisis due to its wrongdoings,” Verka said, adding that it was SAD’s drama to influence the SIT. People want to know who is responsible for the sacrilege cases and who ordered firing at the peaceful demonstrators.
