Bal Khurd resident killed in mishap

AMRITSAR: A man died after a “rashly driven” car hit a bike near Ranjit Avenue bypass here on Saturday.

A man died after a “rashly driven” car hit a bike near Ranjit Avenue bypass here on Saturday. The car driver escaped, leaving his car on the spot. The victim has been identified as Jatinderpal, a resident of Bal Khurd village. He succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital during treatment.

The police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC against the unidentified car driver in this regard.

Complainant Ashok Kumar stated to the police that his uncle Jatinderpal was returning home on his bike when the car (PB02CE9698), coming from Fatehgarh Churian road side, hit him near Amrit Anand Park at Ranjit Avenue. Jatinderpal sustained severe injuries. He wasrushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital from where he was shifted to a private hospital. Later, he succumbed. The police have impounded the car and further investigation is under way to identify the suspect.
