A local court has acquitted alleged gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Sagar Bobby Malhotra in the murder case of Parveen Kumar, a rival gangster. The two other accused in the case, namely, Sangam and Sumit, had earlier died during the proceedings of the case that was registered on October 23, 2014.

As per the FIR registered by police on the complaint of the deceased’s father, Amar Singh, he along with Parveen was riding a motorcycle in Tarn Taran when his son was fired at by some motorcycle-borne persons. Legal counsel for the accused, advocate Amandeep Singh Pahwa, said the police failed to recover the weapon allegedly used for the murder and also failed to produce the bullet recovered from the body.

At present, Jaggu and Malhotra are in Ropar and Patiala jails, respectively. The judgment was pronounced by the court of the Additional District and Session Judge Jagmohan Singh Sanghe. — TNS
