Bomb threat emails to 3 Amritsar schools trigger closures, police search premises
Emails mentioning terror outfit prompt security alert; bomb squads, dog squads deployed, cyber teams trace origin
Three prominent schools in Amritsar were closed on Wednesday after they received bomb threat emails, prompting authorities to take precautionary security measures.
According to information, the threat messages were sent to the school managements via email and claimed that the premises would be blown up. The emails reportedly mentioned the name of a terrorist organisation, raising serious security concerns.
Upon receiving the threats, school authorities informed the police and decided to suspend classes to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Police teams, including bomb disposal squads and dog squads, rushed to the school premises and carried out thorough searches. Senior police officials said no suspicious object had been found so far, but investigations are ongoing. Cyber teams have also been engaged to trace the origin of the threatening emails.
Officials noted that similar bomb threats were received by several schools a few days ago, which later turned out to be a hoax. Despite this, police said the latest threats are being treated with seriousness, and all standard operating procedures are being followed.
