Punjabi poet Gurbhajan Gill’s latest ghazal collection, ‘Mirgavali’, was recently released by the postgraduate department of Punjabi during a special literary event at Khalsa College, Amritsar.
The book was released by college Principal and Punjab Sahit Akademi president Atam Singh Randhawa.
Randhawa lauded Gill’s literary contributions, saying his writings reflected the spirit of Punjabi culture and human values.
He added that the work would prove to be a valuable addition to Punjabi literature.
He said, in February this year, Gill was honoured with the Punjab Gaurav Award by the Punjab Sahit Akademi in recognition of his literary contributions spanning five decades. Gurbeer Singh of the Punjabi department at Guru Nanak College, Batala, who wrote the foreword of the book and is the editor of the literary magazine ‘Surti’, said the poetry raised a collective voice against exploitation.
He added that Gill’s ghazals represented resistance against oppression, and used words as a shield to challenge injustice and the weaknesses of the established system.
