A youth, working as a bouncer at a restaurant, was injured when a group of persons fired at him yesterday evening. The victim, Malkiat Singh, was stopping them from creating ruckus at the restaurant when the incident took place.

The police have arrested a cop’s son and two colonisers and property dealers in this connection. Around five persons are absconding. They fled leaving their vehicles behind.

Those arrested have been identified as Mehtab Singh, son of a head constable, Harpreet Singh of Noor Di Road, Tarn Taran, and Satnam Singh of Gharka village in Tarn Taran.

Malkiat Singh, the victim, stated to the police that around eight persons came to the bar in an Audi car (HR02N0027) and a Mahindra Bolero (PB02DS9896) yesterday evening. After consuming liquor, they forcibly entered the restaurant portion allotted for families and starting shouting.

He said the waiter gave them bill after which they started an altercation and quarrel.

On seeing this, Malkiat Singh, along with other bouncers, reached there and tried to stop and pacify them. Enraged over this, one of the accused opened fire, leaving Malkiat Singh injured. Following this, the staff and other bouncers caught hold of Mehtab Singh, Harpreet Singh and Satnam Singh while their remaining accomplices managed to escape from the spot leaving their vehicles behind.

The Ranjit Avenue police reached the spot and took the three persons besides impounding their two vehicles along with six bottles of whisky.

The police said raids were on to nab those on the run.

The case

Later, they had a quarrel and when Malkiat Singh, along with other bouncers, tried to stop them, one of them fired at him, leaving him injured. Mehtab Singh, son of a head constable, Harpreet Singh of Noor Di Road, Tarn Taran, and Satnam Singh of Gharka village in Tarn Taran have been caught.
