BRTS driver booked for stealing diesel from bus

A driver of metro bus, being run under Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), was nabbed while stealing diesel from a bus parked at stand.

A driver of metro bus, being run under Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), was nabbed while stealing diesel from a bus parked at stand. The accused driver, an employee of an outsourced firm hired by Punjab Bus Metro Society, has been identified as Dilsher Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran.

Baljit Singh, General Manager of BRTS depot, in his complaint to the Sultanwind police station said the accused was the driver of bus plying between Golden Gate to Attari Gate.

The company officials were keeping an eye on the activities of the accused driver. On 11.15 am the accused parked the bus on sideline near Golden Gate and kept the engine start.

Field Officer Baldev Singh found that the accused was stealing diesel from the bus and putting in canister. After filling canister he gave it to unknown person. On the complaint of company officials, the police registered a case under Section 381 of the IPC in this regard. No arrest has been made so far.
