BSF jawan’s body found

The body of BSF Jawan Lakhbir Singh (55) of Dubli village, 40 km from here, who was missing from home under mysterious circumstances since March 19, was found in Shaheed village on Friday. The Patti Sadar police have registered a case under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further investigation is under way.

Lakhbir Singh was deployed with the Pathankot base of the Border Security Force. He had returned on leave to Dubli village on March 19.

Jagroop Singh Joga, son of the deceased, said an unidentified person had visited his residence soon after his father came home. The person took his father to some undisclosed location after which the deceased never returned. The family searched for him next morning but failed.

Jagroop said the body was recovered from Shaheed village on Friday. The body had several injury marks.

Inspector Shivdarshan Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Patti Sadar police station, said the mystery would be resolved soon. The recovery of body in the village spread panic in the area.
