BSF, police foil smuggling bid in Tarn Taran

The BSF and the police recovered two foreign-made pistols and ammunition from the border area in the district on Friday.

According to SSP Surender Lamba, a joint search operation conducted by the Khalra police and the BSF in the fields of farmer Sitara Singh in Dall village led to the recovery of one Glock pistol and two empty magazines.

The police said the consignment had been dropped from across the border. The Khalra police have registered a case under Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act and Sections 25, 26, and 29 of the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam.

In another incident, Lamba said the BSF recovered a Glock pistol and two cartridges from the fields of Burj-169 village, which were later handed over to the Sarai Amanat Khan police.

ASI Sukhwant Singh, posted at Sarai Amanat Khan police station, said a case has been registered in this regard.
