Campus notes: City student felicitated by Minister
Amritsar: Rhydham Deep Sharma, a student of Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar, whose painting was selected in “Super 100” at the national level was felicitated by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on January 25. The project is run by the Ministry of Defence to encourage patriotic sentiments among students. Rhydham received a medal and cash prize of Rs 10,000 at a special event organised by the Ministry of Defence. She also received a special invitation for the Republic Day parade for herself and her mother. Her father, a computer teacher, said that Rhydham is good at painting and was happy over the achievement.
Traffic seminar at Ryan
Amritsar: As part of National Road Safety Month (January 1 to January 31), the police led by ACP East Vineet Ahlawat, Traffic Education Cell in-charge Sub-inspector Daljit Singh and his team held a traffic seminar for children and their parents at Ryan International School, Amritsar. The event was held under the supervision of ADGP Traffic AS Roy and Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. It was held under the guidance of ADCP Traffic Harpal Singh. The ACP East made the children, their parents and school van drivers aware about traffic rules and moral values. The parents of children were made aware about their responsibilities regarding driving of two-wheelers. Sub-inspector Daljit Singh informed the children about road signs, use of helmets and seat belts. The children were asked to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents. Meanwhile, a traffic awareness seminar was also conducted at Government High School, Daburji Lubana.
Ardas at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public
Amritsar: An Ardas Samagam was organised at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Golden Avenue, under the patronage of Chief Khalsa Diwan, to seek the protection of Akal Purakh for the success of the students of Class X in the ICSE Board exam. The event began with the recitation of Sri Japji Sahib and Chaupai Sahib and then the Shabad Kirtan team of the school performed a variety of kirtans of Gurbani. On the occasion, the Sangat prayed for the progress of the school and the success of the students in the examinations.
Khalsa College students shine
Amritsar: The students of Khalsa College, Amritsar, won different competitions in Wordsmith’s Arena, an inter-college competition organised by Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala. Dr Arvinder Kaur Kahlon, acting principal of Khalsa College, informed that students were prepared for competition under the aegis of the Post-Graduate Department of English. She congratulated the students and faculty of the English department for the victory. She further said that participation in inter-college competition nurtures the spirit of accepting challenges and equips students with confidence to tackle the problems of life. The college quiz team that consisted of Rupninder Kaur and Ameet Kaur of MA English bagged the first prize, while Shivam, Najuk, Salarajit Singh and Sumit Sharma, students of BA, won the first prize in “Cultural Confluence”. Snehpreet Kaur of MA Psychology stood second in Spell Bee competition.
Spring Dale runners-up in quiz
Amritsar: The team of Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar, achieved glory at the CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2024-25, and won the second runners-up trophy at the prestigious competition held at DPS, Noida. The team comprising Raghuvansh Wadhwa of grade XII, Gursidak Kaur Boparai of grade XI and Sargun Kaur Bhullar of grade X was given a heroic welcome in the school by the management, staff and students who were eagerly waiting for the champions to come home after the remarkable victory. The team was awarded by the CBSE Chairman, Rahul Singh, IAS, who lauded the defending champions for their consistent outstanding performance throughout the competition. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, said it was while competing with the top schools of the country during different phases of the coveted quiz competition that the school team earned the distinction of reaching the finals for the third consecutive year in the CBSE Heritage India Quiz.
