Campus notes: Seminar on healthy lifestyle held
Amritsar: BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a seminar on healthy lifestyle and fitness. Alpna Soni, national head and therapeutic dietician at Shreya’s Diet Clinic, and Ricky Bhalla, owner of Gold Gym, Amritsar, were the resource persons at the seminar. Dietician Alpna Soni highlighted the crucial role of balanced diet in promoting overall health and managing diseases effectively. She pointed out that a well-balanced diet helps in regulating blood sugar level, supporting cardiovascular health, and boosting the immune system. These benefits are vital for fighting chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart diseases and obesity. Ricky Bhalla, along with his trainer, conducted a live session showcasing aerobics, Zumba, and a variety of stretching exercises, actively involving the participants in hands-on fitness activities. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia said such events offer practical insights into maintaining physical and mental well-being.
College wins laurels at GNDU fest
Amritsar: RRMK Arya Mahila Mahavidyalya emerged as the second runners-up at the Zonal Youth Festival conducted at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar. The students of the college displayed their creative talent, academic processes and exemplary performance in the competitions ranging from dance, music and dramatics to public speaking, creative writing, fine arts and heritage items. The college won the first position in elocution and rangoli making, second position in one-act play in which two students were awarded as best actresses, third position in skit, clay modelling, poster-making and painting on-the-spot. Students also excelled in other activities like debate, poetical symposium, mime, costume parade, mehendi, phulkari, musical activities and so on. Rashmi Ahluwalia of the management committee and co-manager Vineet Mahajan congratulated the staff members and students. Principal Dr Gurmeet Kaur appreciated the winners and mentors for their tireless efforts and outstanding performance.
10 Global students get jobs
Amritsar: Aditya Birla Group, an Indian multinational conglomerate, conducted a placement drive at Global Group of Institutes (GGIs). Col Sudhir Behal, Dean, Training and Placement, informed that 10 students from different streams were selected for placement in various companies of their group. GGIs vice-chairman Dr Akashdeep Singh Chandi congratulated students.
