Ansh Kumar, a talented Class 11 (Non-medical) student of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar, secured second position in the 'Science Working Model' category at the prestigious 'Festival of Science' (Vigyan Utsav), held at Khalsa College from November 18 to 20, 2024. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 90 renowned schools across Amritsar. Ansh impressed the judges with his innovative model, GAPS (Glacial Aquatic Pre-Drainage System), which stood out for its creativity and practical relevance. The Glacial Aquatic Pre-Drainage System is a solution to prevent floods caused by glacial lakes. It uses autonomous underwater vehicles, stabilisers and eco-friendly algae (K31) to control water levels, strengthen barriers and manage excess water safely. This system reduces the risk of sudden disasters in glacier regions. Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan also congratulated Ansh, stating that his remarkable achievement has made the school proud.
