With the exit polls having surfaced, the main contestants and their party leaders aired different views.

BJP state President Shwait Malik said the NDA government rule had bolstered the progress of the country and prevented the scams which had been witnessed in the previous UPA rules. He said on the other hand, Congress President Rahul Gandhi was no match to the statesmanship of Modi.

Congress candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla said the exit polls were a political plot to keep all constituents of NDA united and attract other small parties before the announcement of the result.  Senior Congress leader Jugal Kishore Sharma said the majority of exit polls giving the outcome of the Lok Sabha election in favour of BJP prove the long standing insinuation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s full hold over media.

He said hardly five per cent of people were asked in the course of preparing exit polls. Many previous exit polls had fallen flat in the face of reality in the past. Same thing will recur this time as well, he commented. He added that the PM even made his meditation a publicity stunt. Instead of seeking loneliness and solitary environment, he took gadgets to the cave.

AAP nominee Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the BJP did not reach 300 mark when there was strong Modi wave in the 2014 general election, then how will it secure a full majority in this election when there was a widespread disgruntlement against his ill-conceived policies in the society. The exit polls are political move aimed at intimidating small parties to join the NDA before the result.
