Cigarettes, drugs seized from inmates

AMRITSAR: Two jail inmates have been found possessing a bundle of cigarettes and intoxicating tablets. Arun, a resident of Jagdambay Colony, and Surjit Singh of Harike, Tarn Taran, were caught during a search operation.

Two jail inmates have been found possessing a bundle of cigarettes and intoxicating tablets. Arun, a resident of Jagdambay Colony, and Surjit Singh of Harike, Tarn Taran, were caught during a search operation.

Arun had kept cigarettes in his undergarments. Similarly, Surjit kept 30 intoxicating tablets in his rectum. Two separate cases under relevant sections of the NDPS and Prisons Act have been registered against them.

Jail authorities said they had specific inputs that they were having objectionable material. They had returned after a court hearing. They have been booked.
