Employees of the Municipal Council (MC) on Tuesday held a protest against non-payment of salary for the past three months. A large number of female workers too participated in the protest.

Romesh Kumar Shergill, leader of the safai sewaks, said the employees had been deprived of their salaries for the last three months. Their families have fallen victim to financial pressure and hardship, he added.

The employees warned the MC officials that if their salaries were not paid soon they would go on an indefinite strike from February 21. The employees raised slogans against the state government and officials of the municipal council.
