Dhaliwal said that if anyone has written the history of "oppression" and "betrayal" in Punjab's politics, it is the Congress, and today that very party is preaching lessons in morality.
Addressing the media here today, Dhaliwal challenged the Congress to present even a single piece of evidence of "oppression" from any area of Amritsar rural district. "The truth is that the Congress is using the action taken against its MLA as an excuse because it is scared to face the public," he said.
Rejecting the Congress' allegation of use of force in the elections, he said that AAP candidate Lakhwinder Singh was a victim of Congress' hooliganism and is currently admitted to the hospital. Dhaliwal today held the Congress' internal conflict and arrogance responsible for its present condition. Referring to Navjot Kaur Sidhu's recent statement that becoming CM face requires Rs 500 crore, he said this exposes the internal reality of Congress. Dhaliwal said that five people are roaming around in Punjab claiming to be the chief ministerial faces of the Congress. "This is the reason the party has been ruined," he said.
Referring to the recent Tarn Taran bypoll, Dhaliwal said that factionalism, arrogance and the buying and selling of tickets have destroyed the party. "Now, neither the workers want to stand by them, nor the public. They are playing victim in the recent allegations of violence against their workers and MLAs," he said.
Reminding the people of Congress' dark 75-year history, Dhaliwal said that people have not forgotten the party's role in killing youth in fake police encounters, the attack on gurudwaras, and burning Sikhs alive during the 1984 Delhi massacre. The Congress has committed the biggest betrayal against the people of Punjab, and today that same party is preaching morality, he said.
Targeting the Akali Dal, he said that the party is
misusing SGPC by giving tickets to its employees and their families.
