Amritsar, November 24

Even after passage of 24 hours, the Khalchian police are yet to make any breakthrough in a murder case, in which a taxi driver was killed in Chhajalwadi village.

Paramjit Singh, Khalchian police station SHO, said they were working on various theories to crack the case. A purse and mobile phone of the deceased were in clothes, so the incident did not appear to be an outcome of robbery bid, he said.

The deceased, identified as Parminder Singh alias Raju, ran a taxi and had gone to Jabbowal village to drop passengers. Narinder Singh, father of the deceased, told the police that around 7 pm on Friday, when they called and asked him to return home, he said he was with his friends. When he did not return till 8.30, they started looking for him. He said they found his car in the village ground. His body was lying in a pool of blood near his taxi.

Parmjit Singh said it appeared to be a case of personal enmity or an outcome of love affair. The police have questioned his friend to get clues. Phone call details of the deceased are being scrutinised to identify the murderers, he added.
