The Amritsar Police here, on Thursday, claimed to have dismantled a cross-border drug and arms smuggling module with the arrest of three persons and seizure of 915 grams of ICE (methamphetamine), five pistols and two live cartridges from their possession.

Police Commissioner, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams conducted a targeted operation in the Gate Hakima area and nabbed the accused, identified as Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha (21), Sola Singh alias Sonu (29) and Karan Singh (22), all residents of village Sahanke in Ferozepur district.

Subsequently, on the disclosure of the accused, 9,66,615 grams of ICE and four more in sophisticated pistols - including two Glock 9mm and two .30 bore weapons - were seized. One of the 9mm pistols is stated to be a Beretta make from Italy.

Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms.

The consignments of drugs and illegal arms were allegedly sent via drones and dropped in the Mamdot area which is a forested area along the Ferozepur sector.

All three accused belong to the same village and fall in the 21-29 age group. Police said none of them had any previous criminal record.
