Dal Khalsa chief Harpal Singh Cheema, in a press statement, has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a grenade blast in the Nirankari Bhavan, Adliwal.

It has been almost 34 years that clash against Nirankaris has been in cold storage despite the Akal Takht hukamnama that ordered severing of ties with the followers of the sect, he said. “We are surprised and clueless as we see no immediate reason that can trigger such an attack on Nirankaris. Surely, there is more to it than meets the eye,” said Cheema.

He said that it should be probed without seeing the matter through the prism of Sikh-Nirankari clash of 1978.

Till the identity of the attackers is not ascertained, the motive behind the attack will remain dubious, he said, adding that the responsible leaders of all parties must refrain from levelling accusations or slandering someone.
