Amritsar: A number of companies participated in the placement drive held at DAV College, Amritsar, for the year 2021-22. About dozens of companies offered jobs to more than 150 students. While many of these students were offered a package of more than Rs 5 lakh annually, some students will be provided postgraduate free of cost by the company. Aryan Kamboj, a student of the computer department of the college, has been appointed as a senior assistant service delivery coordinator by DXC through the online placement drive. They will be provided an annual package of Rs 2.80, informed Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar. Aryan was felicitated in the college while Dr Rajesh congratulated placement in-charge Prof Vikram Sharma on the bumper placements in this session. Dr Rajesh said computer students were offered jobs by domestic and foreign companies. Many students here were given job offers by two to three companies.

book on Guru Teg Bahadur soon

A coffee table book “Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji: Journeys and Memories”, dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur, will be released by Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Speaker, Vidhan Sabha, Punjab, tomorrow (on August 4) at 2 pm at the Sri Guru Granth Sahib auditorium of Guru Nanak Dev University. The book was prepared by Centre on Studies in Sri Guru Granth Sahib with the support of the Punjab Government. Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu will deliver the inaugural speech and Dr Manmohan Singh IPS a special lecture on Sri Guru Teg Bahadur’s life, personality and martyrdom. Prof Amarjit Singh, Director, said scholars and students from various institutions and departments would participate in this event.

Global institute students offered jobs

A placement drive at Global Group of Institutes’ (GGIs) has been fruitful with students being selected by various reputed companies and the recent addition to the list is the selection of an MBA student Mehak Mahajan by Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting and business process services company. Similarly, four students of BTech ME (passing-out batch 2023) were selected by JBMI, a leading manufacturing machine component, press parts and die casting components for automotive sector mainly light commercial vehicles, electrical, electronics and textiles sectors. Students of the passing-out batch 2023 are Mandeep Singh, Dilsher Singh, Karan Sharma and Gurpreet Singh. Chanakya Sharma, a student of BTech CSE passing out batch 2023 has been selected for internship by Cogneesol. All this is made possible by the painstaking efforts of the institute and its training and placement cell, who are always making untiring efforts to prepare the students to be industry ready by engaging them in real-time projects that enhance their employability skills.
