Farmers under the banner of the Jamhoori Kisan Sabha and members of the Truck Driver Association, Khalra, organised a demonstration by staging a dharna in front of the Khalra Police Station on Monday to protest against alleged police inaction.

Daljit Singh Dialpura, district leader of the Jamhoori Kisan Sabha, led the dharna. While addressing the protesters, Dialpura said that the police had not delivered justice in the case of Jagtar Singh Sidhwan and demanded appropriate legal action against those who allegedly cheated him. He explained that Sidhwan had purchased a truck with a loan of Rs. 15.50 lakh, but since the truck did not have a FASTag, he was forced to pay double toll fees at toll plazas. Fearing legal action for driving outside the state of Punjab without a FASTag, he ultimately vacated the truck, making it difficult for him to repay the loan instalments.

Dialpura said that when Sidhwan approached the Khalra police, he was denied justice. The deputation of the agitating organisations met with Sub-Inspector Gursahib Singh in the absence of the SHO, who assured them that justice would be served to Jagtar Singh Sidhwan.
