Amritsar, November 19

A day after the grenade attack at Nirankari Bhavan in Adliwal village, near Rajasansi, DGP Suresh Arora on Monday held a meeting with city police officials. He asked them to ensure public safety and thorough checking of the vehicles entering or exiting the holy city by installing barricades at each and every entry and exit point.

He said anti-national forces were continuing their nefarious activities of spreading communal disharmony and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Punjab. Therefore, there is a need to act promptly on the inputs from intelligence agencies. He said the patrolling parties and the PCR teams should keep an eagle eye on the suspicious elements to thwart nefarious designs of unscrupulous elements.

The police have been drawing flak over the shocking grenade attack in the Nirankari Bhavan, killing three persons. The incident left as many as 22 persons injured. It is being considered a major intelligence and security failure as the state has been on high alert following intelligence inputs regarding presence of Jaishe-e-Mohammed militants, including Zakir Musa, in the state. Their prime target was Delhi. A few days ago, several armed persons had snatched an Innova car in Pathankot.
