Dhaliwal announces Shaheed Bhagat Singh statue in Ajnala
Avoids commenting on Laljit Bhullar’s involvement in a suicide case during a public event
As the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government faces scrutiny from the Opposition over the arrest and alleged involvement of former cabinet minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in PWC district manager Gagandeep Randhawa’s suicide case, most local MLAs have remained silent on the issue.
In a striking irony, Ajnala MLA and official AAP spokesperson Kuldeep Dhaliwal, while attending an event commemorating the martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, announced that a statue of Bhagat Singh would soon be installed in Ajnala.
During his address, Dhaliwal refrained from commenting on the suicide case involving Bhullar. However, he asserted that AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia and the Punjab unit remain committed to strengthening national unity and making Punjab prosperous again.
He criticised the previous Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP governments for allegedly implementing anti-people policies and looting schemes, which he claimed worsened Punjab’s condition, once a prosperous state.
Appealing to the public to embrace the ideology of Bhagat Singh and other patriots, Dhaliwal invoked their historic sacrifices to stir public sentiment. He further stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to fulfilling the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other martyrs, particularly in the areas of education, health, and employment.
Dhaliwal reiterated that a life-size statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh would soon be installed in Ajnala, in collaboration with the Majha Virasat Trust and the Ajnala Nagar Panchayat, with the process of site selection currently underway.
