District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljit Singh Bajwa along with Deputy Commissioner Rahul, Senior Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Rana and other judicial, civil, police and jail officials concerned visited the Central Jail, Goindwal Sahib, on Thursday and took stock of the living conditions of inmates, undertrials and convicts.

The jail administration had also organised medical and Aadhaar card camps.

The District and Sessions Judge along with other officials listened to the problems of inmates and ordered the jail authorities to find an early solution to their problems. The officials also visited the mess and barracks and checked the sanitation to know the living conditions of inmates. The judge instructed to conduct a regular check-up of inmates and sanitise the jail complex from time to time. The inmates were made aware of their rights, including the provision for free legal aid.

The sporting talent of undertrials too was displayed on the occasion. The undertrials and convicts were awarded certificates by the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute after completing their vocational courses.
