Drug addict dies, 1 booked

Sukhwinder Singh of the local Muradpur locality has been booked in connection with the death of a drug addict of the same locality. The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Kuldeep Singh.

Kuldeep Singh was found unconscious at the residence of Sukhwinder Singh last evening. Sumanpreet Kaur, wife the deceased, took him to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, where doctors declared him dead.

Sumanpreet told the police that Kuldeep was a drug addict and he used to visit Sukhwinder to take drugs. She alleged that the accused gave Kuldeep a heavy dose of drugs to make more money, resulting in his death.

Inspector Harit Sharma, SHO, said the accused was absconding and raids were on to arrest him. A case under Sections 302 and 380 of the IPC has been registered against him.
