Drug trader in 3-day custody

AMRITSAR: Karanbir Singh (20) of Ghumanpura village, who was nabbed by a special task force team for drug peddling on Monday, has been in the illegal trade for the past two years.

Karanbir Singh (20) of Ghumanpura village, who was nabbed by a special task force team for drug peddling on Monday, has been in the illegal trade for the past two years. He was produced before a court and taken on three-day police police remand.The police have confiscated 1kg of heroin from his possession.

A higher secondary pass out, Karanbir fell in drug trafficking due to his bad habit of gambling. This is for the first time he has been arrested.

Rashpal Singh Ghuman, AIG, STF, said he used to procure the contraband from one Gurjit Singh of Hoshiar Nagar and Sahib Singh, alias Saba, of Ranike. They are yet to be arrested. He said police teams were raiding at their suspected hideouts to arrest them. — TNS
