Amritsar: Eklavya, a Class II student of Spring Dale Senior School, was adjudged the best boy athlete, while Harsirat Kaur, also a student of Class II, was declared the best girl athlete during the two-day annual spring olympics held at Spring Dale Senior School on Monday. Over the weekend, the grounds of Spring Dale Senior School came alive with sports activities, which witnessed the wholehearted participation of Class II students of the school, their parents and grandparents. "The event made three generations learn valuable lessons in team spirit, coordination and discipline while also forging better understanding and a lasting bond between them," the school stated. TNS
DAV students shine
Amritsar: DAV Public School bagged the second position in the state-level quiz organised by PEDA (Punjab Energy Development Agency) on energy conservation. Many schools participated in the quiz which was held at DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana. The school team that won the second prize was awarded a trophy, cash prize and certificates. The team comprised Rohan Talwar and Kritin Kumar of Class IX and Rithvik Chouhan and Abhinav Jain of Class X. Staff against electricity Bill
Tarn Taran: The two-day state general body meeting of the PSEB Employees’ Federation (AITUC) concluded here on Sunday. The federation said they would protest against the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014, to be presented in the coming session of the Parliament by the Union Government. Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind, state leader of the organisation, said as many as 450 delegates participated in the meeting. Harbhajan Singh Pilakhani, state president of the organisation, said on Saturday the organisational report of the federation was discussed at length. More than 70 delegates participated in the discussion. The delegates stressed the employees to be ready to fight against the “imperialistic” forces, led by the ruling classes against exploiting the have-not section of the society. OC
