The election campaign for two Municipal Corporation (MC) wards is at peak as only two days are left for the polling. The candidates of the Congress, the BJP and the SAD have been making efforts to woo voters to franchise in their favour. There are eight candidates in total are in the fray from ward number 50 and 71.
Rajbir Kaur, wife of slain councillor Gurdeep Pehlwan, has been contesting on a Congress ticket while Rajkumar Judo is BJP’s candidate. All the candidates have been campaigning door to door.
As many as four candidates, including Congress’ Rajbir Kaur, BJP’s Rajkumar Judo and AAP’s Vishal Joshi, are in the poll arena from ward number 50.
Raj Kumar Judo, candidate from ward 50, said, “I have been going door to door to meet people. I have visited every street and home in my constituency.”
In ward 71, four persons have filed papers but the fight is mainly between Congress’ Gurmeet Kaur and Jinder of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Another candidate, Jaswant Kaur, is also in the fray. The byelections are scheduled to held on June 21 and the results would be announced on the same day.
