Two victims of the fraud committed against them by a local fake travel agency had to move from pillar to post for more than three years to book the accused by the police who defrauded them of Rs. 14 lakh.

The case

The victims, identified as Lovepreet Singh and Sandeep Singh, residents of Rajasthan, said here that they were lured by the owners of Brilliant Overseas to send them Canada four years ago and took Rs 14 lakh on May 10, 2018. The victim waited for one year, but the agency failed to respond them. They submitted a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on April 9, 2019.

The victims, identified as Lovepreet Singh and Sandeep Singh, residents of Rajasthan, said here on Friday that they were lured by the owners of Brilliant Overseas to send them Canada four years ago and took Rs 14 lakh on May 10, 2018. The victim waited for one year, but the agency failed to respond them. They submitted a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on April 9, 2019.

The victims said since then they moved from pillar to post and bribe too was allegedly given to the police to get the case registered against the accused, but nothing was done positively.

The victims had to spend a huge amount to travel to Tarn Taran to pursue the matter.

They said the city police had registered a case under Sections 420 and 120-B the Indian Penal Code against Surjit Singh Bawa, travel agent of the company, Lovjit Singh Duggal, Gurpreet Kaur, Harman Kaur, Aman Kaur and Paramjit Singh, employees of the company, on Thursday.

The accused had been booked in similar sections on the complaint of many others in different cases for defrauding them of lakhs of rupees.

The victims, Lovepreet Singh and Sandeep Singh, demanded the arrest of the accused without any delay.
