Farmers announce motorcycle march to protest India-US trade deal
The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) has announced that it will organise a motorcycle march in the district as per the call given by the Desh Bachao Morcha to protest against the Centre government’s proposed India-US agriculture trade deal.
The KMSC said that the free trade deal is against the interests of the people of the country. The committee expressed concern over the deal, claiming that it could primarily benefit large business houses, multinational companies, foreign traders and corporate groups while causing losses to local traders, farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs.
The committee leaders said that the Desh Bachao Morcha had given the call for the motorcycle march in the larger public interest and urged the government to reconsider its decision.
The Morcha warned that if the government does not withdraw the proposal, it would launch a peaceful democratic agitation and public awareness campaign.
