The change of guard ceremony of FICCI FLO’s city chapter had Gowri Bansal, founder chairperson of FLO Amritsar, handing over the baton to incoming chairperson Arushi Verma. A year on, FICCI FLO in the city also celebrated its achievements throughout the year and earmarked the plan for 2019-20.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of phenomenal actor Vidya Balan as the chief guest and FLO’s national president Harjinder Kaur Talwar, along with singer-composer Rabbi Shergill.

Vidya held a session, sharing her views on what it means to be powerful as women. “I believe all women are powerful when they acknowledge and accept the power within. It’s about getting in touch with your true power. It’s slowly happening in the world. We are waking up to the fact that power lies within us,” she said. Vidya said she wanted to visit the city to explore it.

Meanwhile, the outgoing chairperson, Gawri Bansal, said in her address, “To make a change, you need to go beyond the comfort zone. This platform gives each of our members endless opportunities to dwell within, discover yourself and be the best version of you. Empowerment, enrichment, giving back to society is all part of this transition making you an evolved person.”

“With the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and 100th anniversary celebrations of Jallianwala Bagh memorial, we have committed to work around the principles of Guru Nanak’s ‘kirt karo, vand chhako, naam japo’, which means work hard, share your labour’s love with community and remember the Almighty,” Arushi Verma said.
