Amritsar, July 15
An employee of a finance firm was among two persons robbed in two separate incidents in rural areas of the district in the past 24 hours.
Mandeep Singh, a resident of Batala, works as a collection agent in the Batala branch of Bharat Finance Inclusion Limited. He told the police that yesterday he collected instalments from Bagga and Athwal villages and was going towards the Arjan Manga village side when three bike-borne persons stopped him.
He said they hit him with sharp weapons and snatched the kit containing Rs 62,000 and purse having 2 ATM cards. Following the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC against three unidentified snatchers.
In another instance, Jagtar Singh of Jania Tana village in Jandiala was robbed of Rs 15,000 by six unidentified persons near Manawala here on Thursday. The police have registered a case.
Jagtar Singh told the police that yesterday he hired an auto rickshaw from his village and alighted near Pingalwara in Manawala on the main GT road at 7.30 pm. He said he was urinating in the open when six persons standing nearby came to him. He said they demanded his mobile phone, but he refused to hand it over to them and then the miscreants started thrashing him.
He alleged they snatched his mobile phone and the purse containing Rs 15,000. He suffered injuries on his arms and the head while the accused sped away on two motorcycles. He said he could not read their registration numbers.
The police registered a case under Sections 379-B and 323 of the IPC against unidentified persons. Investigations were in progress to identify the suspects.
