A five-day faculty development programme (FDP) on communication and presentation skills, organised at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali, in collaboration with the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Academy, concluded on Saturday. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from about 30 faculty members of the host college and other institutions and focused on strengthening professional competencies through learning and upskilling.
The faculty development programme (FDP) was designed to address the evolving demands of higher education by equipping teachers with effective communication strategies, presentation techniques, mentoring models and learner-engagement practices. The participants were exposed to interactive sessions, practical activities and real-life academic scenarios that helped bridge the gap between theory and classroom practice. The programme emphasised confidence building, clarity of expression, effective delivery and the role of mentoring in enhancing teaching effectiveness.
The sessions were conducted by the chief resource person, Arjun Vijayan, a seasoned soft skills trainer, who guided participants through hands-on activities and discussions. His learner-centric approach enabled participants to reflect on their teaching styles and adopt innovative methods for improved classroom interaction.
The FDP proved highly beneficial for participants, as it enhanced their pedagogical skills, improved presentation and communication abilities and renewed their motivation towards professional growth. Participants appreciated the practical orientation of the programme and expressed confidence in applying the acquired skills in their academic roles.
Principal of the host college, Dr Jasbir Singh, presented a formal vote of thanks and expressed appreciation to the resource person for his valuable contribution and dedication.
