Floral decoration begins at Golden Temple

AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandak Committee (SGPC) on Wednesday began the work of floral decoration at the Golden Temple here in view of the Parkash Purb of Guru Ram Das Ji, fourth Sikh master and founder of the holy city, on Friday.

The flowers used for decorating the Golden Temple have been arranged from across the world to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Ram Das falling on October 26.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandak Committee (SGPC) on Wednesday began the work of floral decoration at the Golden Temple here in view of the Parkash Purb of Guru Ram Das Ji, fourth Sikh master and founder of the holy city, on Friday.

SGPC secretary Dr Roop Singh said, “Around 100 artisans and the same number of sevadars are decorating the holy shrine with flowers, which have been arranged from Thailand, Malaysia, Bangalore, Mumbai, Poona, Delhi and Calicut.”

Meanwhile, the bhog of Akand Path began at Gurdwara Shri Manji Sahib which would culminate on Friday. Dr Roop Singh said that as part of the celebrations, Raag Darbar, Dharmik Diwan, Katha Samagam and Kavi Darbar has been planned. He said that the special show of splendour (Jlow) would also be organised for the devotees.

He appealed to the devotees to come here on foot instead of vehicles to avoid traffic jams.
