During the ceremony, police personnel presented a special salute at the eternal flame, a symbol of the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Officials observed a two-minute silence, and the police band played patriotic tunes.

“Martyrs are the true capital of any nation and always remain a source of inspiration for future generations. Today’s generation should draw guidance from the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi, whose principles of non-violence and tolerance are what the world needs the most today,” he said.

Senior officials of the district administration, along with others, were present on the occasion.
