Amritsar August 31

The Government of Punjab has recognised and honoured four women-led startups from the Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) for their remarkable contribution to Punjab’s innovation landscape and their significant impact on society. The honoured startup innovators include Dr Vipasha Sharma, owner of MKelly Biotech Private Limited, recognised for her healthcare innovations; Dr Gauri Jemurgen, founder of Gauri’s Skin Care Private Limited, who was awarded for developing a biomass-based natural sunscreen formula with anti-aging and anti-cancer properties; Pooja Kaushik for her innovative crochet and fibre-based products with ‘Kreatekit’; Nancy Bhola for her social enterprise ‘Sakhiyaan’, a cooperative that empowers marginalised women, weavers and artisans in Punjab’s rural areas to produce sustainable products from textile waste.

Dr PK Pati, coordinator of the Centre, said that these women-led startups have been registered with the GNDU incubation centre and have been supported under various state government schemes. The Centre currently hosts 40 startups working on innovative technologies. Many of these startups have secured seed funding from the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and Startup Punjab. “Beyond promoting and supporting these startups, the Centre has also developed a robust network of mentors, ecosystem enablers, investors and industry partners,” said Dr Pati.
