A gangster identified as Robanpreet Singh, a resident of Marimegha village, who is the accused in a number of criminal cases, was arrested by the Khalra police on Sunday.

The police recovered a pistol, a magazine and six cartridges from his possession. Robanpreet actively participated in the panchayat elections of his village.

SSP Abhimanyu Rana said the gangster had opened fire at the Marimegha grain market and nearby Khalra village in the past. The SSP said the gangster was facing seven criminal cases.
