Notorious gangster Jagtar Singh alias Jagga Pattu was injured in an encounter by the police near Kairon village in the area. The police have recovered a foreign-made weapon from the possession of the accused.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Tarn Taran, Surendra Lamba said that on the evening of September 22, gangster Jagga Pattu and his accomplices shot and killed two youths at the railway gate of Kairon village near Patti. The main shooter in the crime was Jagga Pattu. After committing the murder, gangster Jagga Pattu was absconding.
The SSP said that Jagga Pattu was arrested during a joint operation launched by Fazilka police, AGTF, CIA staff, Tarn Taran and city police, Patti. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) disclosed that as per the confession made by the accused during interrogation, the police had brought gangster Jagga Pattu to the canal near village Kairon to recover the weapon used in the incident, when the accused Jagga Pattu fired two rounds at the police to escape.
The bullet fired by the police in retaliation hit the accused in the leg, injuring him. Jagga Pattu was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Senior Superintendent of Police said that foreign-made weapons have been recovered from the gangster and more revelations are likely during the police investigation.
