Amritsar, February 16

The Amritsar Municipal Corporation will soon start the garbage processing work at Bhagtanwala dump here. The solid waste management company hired by the MC has arranged special machines from Bhopal for the purpose.

The special machines will segregate refuse-derived fuel (RDF) from municipal solid waste. A technology will be installed to separate the non-combustible waste from combustible waste. It will then turn the combustible portion into a form that can be effectively used as fuel. Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had recently said that garbage would be completely removed from the 25-acre area. The processing would take six months to complete.
